RO or UF: which drinking water purifier is right for you?

If you’re tired of ordering, carrying and storing water bottles, a purifier with its own kitchen tap is the answer. The two main types are RO (reverse osmosis) and UF (ultrafiltration). Both give you clean drinking water, but they work differently.
How RO works
An RO system pushes water through a very fine membrane, about 0.0001 micron. It is designed to reduce dissolved salts, heavy metals, bacteria and viruses. Our 5-Stage RO uses three pre-filters, the RO membrane and a post-carbon filter, with an 11-litre tank so water is always ready.
- Removes the most, including dissolved salts
- Needs a storage tank and a drain connection
- Some water goes down the drain as part of the process
How UF works
A UF system uses hollow-fibre membranes, about 0.01 to 0.1 micron. It is designed to screen out bacteria, micro-organisms and fine particles, while keeping the natural minerals in the water.
- No tank, no electricity and no waste water
- Keeps calcium and magnesium in the water
- Does not remove dissolved salts like RO does
Which one should you choose?
Choose RO if you want the most thorough purification for drinking, cooking, tea and baby bottles. The AI Digital RO adds minerals back and raises the pH for a smoother taste.
Choose UF if you want a simple system with zero waste water that keeps the minerals in, and your main concern is particles and bacteria.
Both can be fitted under the sink or on the countertop, and both come with service every 4 months, free for the first year.
